The Park Square Children’s Center was a dramatic transformation of an abandoned turn of the century mill into an innovative and stimulating child daycare center. The design was conceived with the supposition that a well developmentally designed environment can have enormous impact on children, caregivers and their mutual interaction. The scope of the project involved the total renovation of an existing 9,500 square foot brick and heavy timber mill in conjunction with a 6,000 square foot addition with covered parking. The center provides classrooms for 120 toddlers and infants, administrative offices for Woonsocket Head Start, adult seminar facilities, a full service kitchen and multiple exterior playareas.
