The Ponaganset High School Energy Lab is comprised of the renovation of two existing classrooms into a computer lab and Energy Lab. The Energy Lab was designed as a space where students could learn about and create alternative energy. A garage door within the Energy Lab exterior allows the school owned Ford Model T to be brought into the classroom to be worked on and demonstrated. The school had purchased this gas powered vehicle and has since converted it to a hydrogen fuel cell powered electric vehicle. This space also allows for experiments, such as creating small batches of biodiesel fuel, solar power testing and wind energy study to take place. The adjacent computer lab has allowed furthering alternative energy studies via the internet as well as providing a space for video conferencing with colleges throughout the country to discuss alternative energy projects, studies, etc.
